Guppi on Yellow Fish
Love them or hate them Yellow fish are part and parcel of Fishing in most places around South Africa and has cost many a competitive angler valuable points by means of a disqualification from a competition due to bringing and undersize yellow to the weigh in. Below is a simple picture that will help in identifying our two most common species encountered namely the largemouth or smallmouth yellow. Remember Identifying them is one thing making sure it is the correct size is another find out from the officer of the day as to what the legal size for the day will be.

If one views the fish from below their eyes are difficult to see.

Within the gillcovers it has a set of gillrakers for shedding prey.

Guppi on finding the Ideal Spot
Remember that the sport you pick has a lot to do with how good your catch will be. do not always look for the spot that has the nice short grass all the way to the water's edge as this is the spot that most anglers will take but it also means that the spot is potentially poison as you do not know what "muti" has been used their. learn to read your water and in so doing you will find that Gem where the fish are hiding and your favourite muti may just be the thing to lure them.
